In the 2006, after seven years of work, the UN has approved the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: a fundamental step forward in recognizing the rights of all people, including those with disabilities. The Italian Parliament transposed the document into 2009. The 21 March 2012 The Communes of Cuneo, Alba, Bra, Fossano, Savigliano, Mondovì and Saluzzo have solemnly committed to the implementation of the Convention. A symbolic act that is a great step on the cultural and social level. With the VelA-Towards Autonomy, the territory of the province of Cuneo will implement the 19 article of the Convention, which guarantees "the right of all people with disabilities to live in society with the same freedom of choice as other people."
