The next meeting of the "Toni Lucci" School of Peace, scheduled for Thursday 20 February 2020 at 21 pm, will be dedicated to the project launched by Slow Food and the Municipality of Bra in Benin. On the stage of the conference room of the multifunctional center "Giovanni Arpino" (in via Guala 45) will go up Davide Dotta (Slow Food, Africa office) and Francesco Testa (councilor of the Municipality of Bra with delegation for international cooperation), returning from an intense trip to the African city of Parakou, who will tell about images and emotions. The appointment is entitled "Travel diaries. Slow Food, Municipality of Bra, Municipalité de Parakou. Together for a sustainable future in Benin ".
Their report will allow you to take stock of the realization of a project thought for more than a year and now in its operational phase, implemented with resources from the Piedmont Region and included in the Slow "dream" of creating at least ten thousand new vegetable gardens in the land of Africa. These are educational gardens to teach agri-ecology techniques at school. And again, neighborhood and community gardens, to enhance and recover the biodiversity of local crops in the face of a ruthless invasion of intensive monocultures and the unscrupulous use of chemistry.
There are currently ten gardens under construction in Parakou, a large city in northern Benin. The choice of the city is the result of a friendship already started in the past thanks to the "African Spring" of Fr Max Cyr Lafia, a priest from Benin who served for 5 years in the parish of the Bandito hamlet and who has maintained with the city della Zizzola a close friendship. The project, which started from Italy, now sees the full involvement of local institutions. Admission to the evening is free as long as places are available. An unmissable journey of peace.
The next appointment with the Bra Peace School will be for Friday 28 February and will have the title “Climate: there is no more time. The climatic emergency causes and effects ". Speaker Claudio Cassardo, professor at the University of Turin and scientific popularizer on climate issues. More information by writing to firstname.lastname@example.org. (Rb)
